Fourth of July means a packed schedule of picnics, parties, parades and fireworks. Rather than show up to these Fourth of July celebrations empty-handed, try one of these festive recipes fit for a crowd!
Grilled nachos: Plan on firing up the grill this Independence Day? Before you break out the hot dogs and hamburgers, grill up a big pan of nachos for quick and easy party snack. Spray a deep foil pan with non-stick spray and line the pan with your favorite tortilla chips. Layer on shredded cheese and your favorite toppings, such as beans, tomatoes, green or red peppers, onions and jalapeños. Bring the grill to medium heat and place the pan on top. Grill for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Carefully remove the pan and serve with sour cream and guacamole!
Bacon cheddar dip: Hold off the hunger pangs with this tasty dip that goes great with corn chips. Combine mayonnaise, sour cream and cream cheese thoroughly. Stir in bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions and tomatoes and pour into a shallow baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes or until the mixture starts bubbling. If you’re heading out to a picnic, assemble the dip the night before so you can pop it in the oven before you leave!
Deli sandwiches: Nothing is easier to pack for a party or picnic than homemade sandwiches. If you’re worried that sandwiches are too plain for a party, dress them up in festive paper wrappers and decorative toothpicks. Be sure to prepare a variety of options, and let the sandwiches chill overnight so they’ll keep their shape. Then pack them up and enjoy!
Zesty pasta salad: This hearty antipasto pasta salad makes a great main or side dish for any picnic or party. Simply boil the pasta, chop up some salami, pepperoni, string cheese, tomatoes and romaine lettuce and sprinkle on your favorite Caesar seasoning blend. Combine all the ingredients in one big bowl and let the pasta salad marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
Very berry cake: Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries can make any dessert look patriotic! For a quick and tasty dessert, simply purchase your favorite white cake mix and some vanilla icing and let the kids decorate with red, white and blue berries. If you don’t have time to make a cake, you can purchase plain store sheet cake and let the kids take over.
Red, white and brownies: Any pan of brownies will be fit for a Fourth of July celebration when you top them with red, white and blue candies or sprinkles. Bring along some vanilla ice cream, and you’ll have the perfect sweet treat!
